Sometimes when you try to get connected you get a message saying "no dial tone". This can be due to various reasons. See below the possible causes and how to fix them.
1. The first step would be to check whether you are using the correct dial up telephone number. It should be 901929200.
2. You are in a hotel and need to dial or add a prefix in front of the existing telephone number. For example a 0 or a 9. The number to dial would then be something like 0901929200 or 9901929200. Alternatively, ask the hotel and see what number or prefix you need in order to achieve this.
3. If you are not in a hotel and just dialing from your normal ordinary phone line, then we would need to check the location or dialing rules. This happens allot when people take their ordinary laptop computer from abroad over to Spain. Most likely the country or region code will be configured incorrectly. Follow these steps.
- Click "Start" and go to "Settings" or "Control panel".

- Once in the control panel, locate an icon called "modems" or "phone and modem options". Make sure you are viewing the control panel in the "Classic Mode". Double click it to open.

- You will be presented with the "Dialing rules" options. Notice the location you are dialing and which is selected. Make sure the "Area Code" is empty. You can also click on "Edit" at the bottom to see more details.

- Make sure the country is set to "Spain" and that you leave the are code blank.

- Once done, press "OK", close the modem options and try again and see if it works.
